Since our very first auction in 1975, Country Boys Auction & Realty, Inc. (CBA) has been servicing the needs of our customers for nearly 50 years. We have continually strived to provide the most complete liquidation and valuation services for all types of real estate and personal property. As our world and industry has evolved, CBA has proudly been at the forefront of change to ensure the best services for our customers, both buyers and sellers.

CBA sells personal property and real estate primarily through the live auction process. We also utilize online auctions platforms, private sales, liquidation sales, and “for sale” listings to maximize asset potential. While many of our auctions are held at remote locations, our main facility in Washington, NC consists of a 30,000 square foot warehouse, auction, and office building with a large outdoor sale yard. We also maintain a secondary sale yard facility a few miles away with several acres of additional auction and storage space.

In addition to sales, CBA provides an extensive amount of confidential asset evaluations and valuations for individuals, companies, courts systems, and others. We also provide these services for lenders for pre-loan, refinancing, and asset liquidation purposes as well as for attorneys and Trustees in all types of legal matters.

Mike Gurkins, Owner/President, is a licensed real estate broker (NCRE License #200166) and auctioneer (NCAL #3401). He has developed his skills from working with his father, Doug Gurkins (company founder) his entire life as well as drawing from his direct involvement in the industry for over 30 years. Mike started participating in the family auction business as a child and has spent his entire life in the industry and is now leading Country Boys Auction & Realty Co., Inc. into a new generation of auction, liquidation, and evaluation for an even larger customer base.

Dewey Dunn, VP of Real Estate & Marketing, is a licensed Real Estate Broker (NCRE #221385) and auctioneer (NCAL #7430) started working for Country Boys Auction in a part-time basis in the late 1980’s and continued until his role became a full-time responsibility in the late 1990’s. Mentored and trained by Doug Gurkins, he has become an integral part of the company with over 30 years of experience in evaluations, auctions, and real estate. Dewey’s experience of being a business owner/operator along with an extensive background in all types of general & heavy construction, underground utility & pipeline construction, trucking/transportation, and manufacturing provide insight into many areas of industry and business.

Nick Gurkins, Operations Manager and licensed Auctioneer. After college graduation in 2022, Nick chose to join CBA as a third-generation member of the company. Like his father, he grew up around the auction industry and already has a lifetime of exposure and a great deal of industry knowledge. His skills will take CBA into the future.

Country Boys Auction & Realty, Inc. has a large staff of trained professionals to assist both our buying and selling customers with all their needs. CBA employs (6) licensed Auctioneers and (4) Licensed Real Estate Brokers in addition to our office, auction, warehouse, and moving personnel. Our full-time daily involvement in both the real estate and auction businesses, along with regular continuing and ongoing education and in-house company training help all our employees provide the highest level of professionalism and representation in our industry.
